YMCA, PMC offer cancer wellness program

Pocono Family YMCA of Stroudsburg partnered with Pocono Medical Center's Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center to offer an eight-week program for cancer survivors called New Beginnings: A Cancer Wellness Program.

The program is designed to benefit cancer survivors from time of diagnosis, on through survivorship."As a cancer exercise specialist, along with Dolores Everett, my goal is to provide a supportive environment for people affected by cancer to participate in physical and social activities that strengthen the whole person," said Patricia Zaso, Pocono Family YMCA Wellness Coordinator. "By focusing energy from 'illness' to 'wellness,' we can support cancer survivors who are in the transitional period between completing their treatment and feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to resume their lives."The class will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks at a time. The cost is $50 and upon completion it will be credited toward continuing wellness for any program at the Pocono Family YMCA.For more information about this program, please call Patricia Zaso of Pocono Family YMCA at 570-460-1589.
