Parades

• The Carbon County Veterans Day Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jim Thorpe. The rain date is Nov. 15.• The Tamaqua Veterans Day Parade will be held this Saturday. Staging will be at the east end of town. Organizers are asking participants to be at the staging area by 9:30 a.m., as the parade will begin at 10 a.m.The line of march will then travel west on Broad Street with a stop at the Tamaqua American Legion Post. No registration is required. For more information, call 570-668-1234.Events• The Carbon County Veterans Affairs office will host a Veterans Day memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Josiah White Park in Jim Thorpe. The program is open to the public.• Plans are being made to add the names of six World War II veterans to the memorial wall in Coaldale. Those with loved ones who served in the war, and whose names are not already inscribed, are asked to call designer William Gaddes at 570-645-2762. The names will be added before Veterans Day. The wall is part of the Veterans and Womens Memorial Garden, on Third Street next to borough hall.• Mrs. Bush's in Kunkletown will host a Salute to Veterans ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.• There will be a ceremony at the Veterans' Memorial in front of the Eldred Township building in Kunkletown in honor of Veterans Day at 11 a.m. Nov. 11.• At 11 a.m. Nov. 11 the Legion Post Home in Gilbert will have a ceremony to mark the day. Food will follow.•The Pleasant Valley Middle School will hold a Veterans Day Assembly in the Old Gym on Nov. 11.• The Tamaqua Area High and Middle Schools will be conducting a brief Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 11. The event will be held at 7:25 a.m. in front of the Tamaqua Area Senior High School. Tamaqua area veterans will be recognized during a roll call. To add names to the roll call list, contact Tamaqua High Assistant Principal Tom McCabe before Nov. 9. The public is welcome to attend.• The Northampton Joint Veterans will present a Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Memorial Plot, 14th and Washington streets and Dewey Avenue, Northampton. Members of Fred A. Snyder, American Legion Post 353, Catholic War Veterans Post 454 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 will preside. All are invited to attend.Submit your event information at
