Lehighton Holiday Craft Show Saturday

Lehighton Rotary Club is once again partnering with Lehighton Area High School Interact Club to present the third annual Lehighton Handmade Holiday Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the educational and community programs of the two organizations. This event will take place at the high school at 1000 Union St. in Lehighton. Admission is free."We are excited to offer this event to the community again this season. To be able to showcase more than 60 very talented local artists is something of which we are very proud," said Lehighton Rotary Club Past President Erica Heery."We want the community to spend time with the artists, crafters, and volunteers and get to know the heart of the local area.""The craft show will showcase handmade country primitives, jewelry, woodworking items, candles, lotions, crocheted accessories, candy, and everything in between," Heery said. "It will be a one-stop-shop for everyone to enjoy - while supporting local small businesses and local nonprofits. It's a win-win for everyone involved."In addition to the wide variety of unique homemade crafts, there will be an early opportunity for photos with the "jolly old elf.""We are also excited that Santa Claus will be joining us for this special community event," Heery said."It's the perfect time of year to get your photo memories with Santa and get a head start on all of those Christmas cards we never get a chance to send out each year."There will also be a Chinese auction, a used book sale with all proceeds benefiting Lehighton Area Memorial Library, and a food drive. Those who donate at least one nonperishable food item will be given a free door prize ticket. Without the food donation, the participation fee for the door prize raffle is $1 per ticket. All of these donations will be given to the community food pantry at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton, a division of Shepherd House, Inc.In addition, LAPS Interact Club will be hosting an informational booth to promote awareness of the international "End Polio Now Campaign" through the "Purple Pinkie Project."
