Tamaqua woman facing several charges

Tamaqua police cited Tabatha Marie Murphy, 27, of 339 Hazle St., Tamaqua, after an incident on Cedar Street on May 18.

Officers were called to 229 Cedar St. at 12:08 a.m. for a disturbance. The caller said a woman had come out of an apartment at the rear of 223 Cedar St., screaming, and began ripping apart a fence on the caller's property. The woman then re-entered the apartment.As they approached the apartment officers heard a loud thud. They found Murphy on the living room floor, unresponsive. A man in the apartment helped police wake Murphy, who was visibly intoxicated. She began yelling and screaming, accusing officers of stealing her purse. She picked up two cellphones and threw them to the floor before she shoved one of the officers. When she shoved him a second time she was handcuffed. She continued flailing around, kicking at police, and had to be physically carried out of the apartment.She was cited for simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and criminal mischief.
