Two people were injured and taken by ambulance to the hospital after a one-car crash Thursday afternoon on Route 54 in Barnesville.

Responders were dispatched to Pine Creek Drive and Church Road about 3 p.m. for a report of a collision with injuries. Those at the scene said it appeared a Chrysler PT Cruiser was heading eastbound toward Mintzers Hill when, for reasons unclear, the car appears to have crossed the roadway and collided head-on with a large pine tree.

A male driver and female passenger sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital by Ryan Township and Tamaqua ambulances.

Also Responding were Rush Township police, Hometown fire police, Ryan Township Fire and Rescue and Luzerne APTS.
