The Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group will hold its January meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 28 at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Area Public Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer Township.

From 10 to 11 a.m., there will be a regular business meeting. At 11 a.m., Kate Moretti will present "Openings: Hooks and Lines. What makes a good novel opening?"They will talk about the stakes, how to make them more apparent immediately, and why high stakes aren't the end all and be all of the hook.The program is free and open to the public.
