Monroe County Commissioners

During Wednesday's meeting the Monroe County Commissioners approvedcontracts for the upcoming year:

• E.F. Possinger & Sons Inc. for snow removal, including plowing and removal at $95 per hour and shoveling of Safety Center walkways at $85 per hour. The county will pay $1,150 per ton of calcium chloride and $225 per ton of rock salt.• W.B. Mason, office supplies and toner at $114,081.09 for the year.• All Points, for vehicle maintenance with a labor rate of $60 per hour.• The propane bid to Superior at a fixed rate of $1.23 per gallon and a fluctuating price of 0.45 over cost. Stiff Oil Company for fuel oil at a price that was the highest per gallon at $2.299 and $2.399, but with a fluctuating cost of a 0.06 to 0.18 markup per gallon, significantly lower than its competition.• Environmental Services, two-year contract for sewage and sludge hauling at $114,100.• The commissioners awarded contracts for janitorial supplies, lawn maintenance, pest control and uniform patches. There was no bid for gas for county vehicles. The county will readvertise for uniforms for sheriff's deputies and correctional officers.A 2016-17 subcontract for $111,435 was awarded to PathStone Corporation to provide employment training skills to those transitioning off welfare.The commissioners approved a request by the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport Authority for $50,000 from the Hotel Tax monies to offset the cost of relocating the airport weather station.A Joint Venture Contribution Agreement was executed with 26 other counties to create Comprehensive Care Concepts Inc., a nonprofit entity to contract with managed-care companies for social services and support.The commissioners reappointed Ray Guernsey and Robert G. Brown to the Monroe County Act 137 Affordable Housing Advisory Board. James Frutchey and Barry Schaffer were reappointed to the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority. Scott Besser was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Dan Ferguson through Dec. 31, 2017. Michele Baehr, Emma Avci and Oscar L. Lollis were appointed to Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Board.
