McAdoo driver facing DUI, drug counts

A McAdoo man has been cited in connection with a traffic stop on Oct. 18, 2015.

McAdoo police were monitoring traffic at 9:46 a.m. when a blue Mitsubishi drove past the intersection of Kennedy Drive and Jackson Street. The officer recognized the driver as Miguel Calderon and knew the man did not have a valid driver's license. The officer activated his lights and siren in an attempt to have the Mitsubishi stopped but the driver continued along Route 309, headed north. He finally stopped near the intersection with Gulas Drive.Calderon told the officer he didn't notice him before then. He admitted to smoking "some" marijuana because he needed it to calm down after an argument with his girlfriend. He was given, and failed, field sobriety tests.He was cited for driving under the influence, driving without a license and possession of marijuana.
