The Mauch Chunk Historical Society board presented a $500 scholarship to Lauren Van Essendelft of Albrightsville. She is a 2015 graduate of Jim Thorpe High School. Currently, Van Essendelft is a student at Lehigh Carbon Community College. She plans to continue her education at a four-year school, and major in marine biology.
