Lehighton state police report crashes

State police at Lehighton reported investigating the following crashes.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:09 p.m. on Nov. 22 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Craig S. Delong, 55, of Slatington, was southbound operating a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo and approaching the intersection with Maury Road while Christine A. Raines, 36, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee northbound and approaching the intersection. Troopers said Delong attempted to make a left turn onto Maury Road when his vehicle struck the driver side front corner of Raines’ vehicle. The Jeep traveled a short distance as it rolled over multiple times and came to rest on its passenger side facing in a southernly direction. The Chevrolet spun 90 degrees clockwise and came to rest on the side of the road facing north.

Delong and Raines were both transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Lehighton ambulance.

Troopers cited Delong for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:24 p.m. on Nov. 23 at the intersection of Route 115 and Mount Eaton Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Brent A. Fulin, 31, of Pen Argyl, was southbound while Paul J. Rivieccio, 26, of Wind Gap, was northbound. Fulin left his lane of travel and his 2012 Ford Focus collided into Rivieccio’s 2013 Nissan Altima head-on. The drivers were not injured but a , a 16-year-old male passenger with Rivieccio was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

Troopers said Fulin was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Both vehicles were be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 19 along Silver Spring Boulevard in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Kaitlyn S. Johnson, 28, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2008 Buick Enclave westbound when the vehicle left the road on the right side and struck the guide rail. It then crossed over the eastbound lane and struck a tree head-on along the berm.

Johnson and a 3-year-old boy were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono. Another juvenile passenger was not injured. The vehicle was towed.

• Four people were hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 7:59 p.m. Nov. 24 on the Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks identified them as Mark A. Benner, 21, the driver of the vehicle, John M. Stafiniak, 21, and Matthew G. Eckhart, 20, all of Lehighton, and Joshua W. Ritter, 20, of Palmerton. Police said the extent of their injuries is unknown. All of the victims refused a medical transport by the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association.

Police said Benner was operating a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Forest Inn Road and was negotiating a curve in the roadway when the vehicle left the right side of the road, striking a rock with its right rear. The car then traveled across the northern lane and went down an embankment, coming to rest against a tree.

Police said Benner was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
