Kidder Township celebrates area volunteers

Kidder Township took a few minutes out of the December board of supervisors meeting to recognize the dedication of some of the township's many volunteer organizations.

"I don't know a more dedicated group of people than those we have in our township," said Supervisor Thomas LaFond."These people do an amazing job."LaFond was speaking of the township fire and safety volunteers as well as those that volunteer their time to the Penn-Kidder Library Center.The township also took the time to announce the Emergency Services Person of the Year. Steve McGinnis of Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company took home the honors this year.In addition to McGinnis, C.J. McFeeley of Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company and Kerril Lanum of Lake Harmony Rescue Squad were nominated.The township also took the time to thank the many volunteers who keep the Penn-Kidder Library Center operating six days a week, 52 weeks a year."Volunteer work includes covering and cataloging books, checking in/out patron books, shelving and weeding library books, assisting patrons with computer services, copy and faxing services, creating and conduction programs for all ages," said supervisor Barbara Franzosa. "They also do a lot of fundraising projects, including writing and executing grants."According to Franzosa, 50 percent of the library's operating budget comes from fundraising.The volunteers recognized were each given a certificate of appreciation by the township supervisors.The volunteers are: Mary Farnschlader, Sherri Gibson Scott, Michael Principe, Cyndi Pantages, Donna Martino, Charles Trovato, Kathy Saxon, Margot Krum, Karen Rushatz, Carol Pries, Linda Laudenslager, Greta Martocci, Liz Giles, Marc Silverstein, Jeff Reed, Larry Polansky, Sylvia Davis, Phy Spencer, Lynn Hall, Linda Holmes, Christina Borgia, Tim Crimmins, Dick Stobaugh, Joe O'Brien, Jim and Buddy Boyle, Pat Pinotti, Deb Kelly, Pat Suda, Magda Rosulek, Beth and Henry Westendarp, Cathy Weber, Nancy Schields, Carl Fricke.
