Chamber features local artist

The Lehighton Chamber of Commerce will shine a spotlight on the art work of local artist Earlene Russell.

A third-generation artist specializing in watercolor, Russell taught art and art appreciation before moving to the Poconos, where she launched her art career. She is a member of the Carbon County Art League and has participated in several art shows in Pennsylvania and Maine. Russell’s painting of a night sky titled “Over Above and Beyond” was featured on The College of the Atlantic website in 2009. In a solo show in 2010, 13 of her paintings were on display for two months at The Jessup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor, Maine.Although she enjoys working in oils, Russell found her calling with watercolor. As she takes time to travel around the country, she paints her unique heartfelt interpretation of America’s national parks and rural landscape. The exhibit will be at the chamber, located at 110 N. Third St., Lehighton, for the month of December. It is free and open to the public.Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
