Pleasant Valley School District’s board of directors approved several personnel appointments Thursday night in anticipation of students returning to school on Monday.

The hires included Beth Green, a full-time paraprofessional associate, Pleasant Valley Elementary School, $21,779; Christina Heckelman, long-term fifth grade substitute teacher, Pleasant Valley Intermediate School, $41,800; Jodi Kresge, daily substitute teacher, $100 per day; and Joanne Aruta, full-time paraprofessional, Pleasant Valley Intermediate School, $21,779;In other action items Thursday, the board:•transferred Stephanie Kramer to a full-time paraprofessional at Pleasant Valley Elementary, $22,389.•approved the resignations of Robin Bank, part-time paraprofessional position at Pleasant Valley Elementary, effective Aug. 12; Christine Butler, part-time paraprofessional position at Pleasant Valley High School, effective Aug. 11; Katarzyna Oleksa, part-time food service employee at Pleasant Valley Elementary, effective July 18; Colleen Schmidt, part-time paraprofessional, Pleasant Valley High School, effective Aug.17,Rachel Voulo, part-time paraprofessional, Pleasant Valley Elementary, effective June 3; Martina Zaragoza, part-time paraprofessional, Pleasant Valley High School, effective June 3; and Perma Borger, food service, effective Aug. 22.•approved employee handbooks for Pleasant Valley elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools.•approved the discarding of unused, out-of-date social studies textbooks; broken/unusable calculators from Pleasant Valley High School; and a Metorex Model 120 metal detector from Pleasant Valley High School that no longer works.•approved a three-year contract with Jostens Yearbook Agreement through 2019 for the Pleasant Valley High School yearbook, $29,000.00.•approved the replacement of a chiller water pump at the Polk Elementary School, $3,493.•approved a math program for Pleasant Valley Intermediate School through Suntex International, $6,060.•approved a contract with the Graham Academy for classroom instruction at $155 per day; Speech, occupational and physical therapy will be provided through Encore Therapy Services at $115 per hour.•approved a contract with Colonial Intermediate Unit #20 provide an associate teacher for direct, one-on-one services at Five Points Elementary School, not to exceed $39,065.40.•approved a contract with Stacy G. Axelman for speech and language pathologist evaluation, not to exceed $5,000.•approved a contract with the Monroe County Conservation District/Monroe County Environmental Education Center and Pleasant Valley School District for kindergarten winter bird feeding, $3 per student; and Kettle Creek classroom visit and field trip, $110 per class.•approved an eight-week after-school program at Pleasant Valley Elementary School, Mad Science of the Lehigh Valley, $95 per participant.
