Jim Thorpe PD gets six AED units through grant

The Jim Thorpe Police Department recently announced it received six automated external defibrillator and carrying cases, six infant/child keys and one cabinet for the AED valued at $8,771.75.

According to Chief Joe Schatz, the equipment was available through a grant sponsored by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.All Jim Thorpe police vehicles and the foyer inside the borough administration/police department will be equipped with an AED unit.An AED is a portable device that can diagnose a life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia and deliver an electric shock to the heart to restore normal cardiac rhythm.“The department would like to personally thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for their continuous dedication and support to improving life saving capabilities,” Schatz said.
