Tamaqua women cited following accident

Two women were cited by Tamaqua police after an accident on Aug. 9.

Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle versus a 2-year-old pedestrian accident on West Rowe Street at 3:40 p.m.Witnesses said the child had been petting a dog, then darted into the street, running into the side of a passing 2005 Honda driven by Rosa Roman Barrera, 45, ofTamaqua.The child was transported to St. Luke's Miners Campus in Coaldale with possible leg injuries.While everyone agreed the driver could not have avoided the accident, she was cited because she was using an invalid international driver's license.The owner of the Honda, Patricia Ramirez, 50, ofTamaqua, was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle.
