Trial update: Knife contained Cheryl Silvonek's blood

DNA analysis of a bloody knife found behind the Silvonek home in March 2015 confirmed that it was stained with the blood of murder victim Cheryl Silvonek.

But there was no signs of DNA for either of the two suspects in the case, 21-year-old Caleb Barnes and Jamie Silvonek.

Silvonek has already pleaded guilty to first degree murder.

Barnes is on trial this week in Lehigh County court. Veteran court watchers believe that Silvonek will testify against him either this afternoon or on Friday.

A DNA analyst testified Thursday morning that significant amounts of Cheryl Silvonek's DNA on a jacket belonging to Barnes.

Prosecutors also presented text messages recovered from the phones of Barnes and Jamie Silvonek. The text messages suggest that Caleb Barnes revealed that he was 20 years old to Cheryl Silvonek, then bought a fake birth certificate at Jamie's suggestion.
