Zachery Powell of Tamaqua received the 2016 Presidential Scholar Award. He also received the Ice Hockey Club Athlete Academic Award.

Zachery is a 2013 graduate of Tamaqua High School. He currently is a junior at California University of Pennsylvania, where he is majoring in homeland security. He also belongs to The Strength and Fitness Club and is on Vulcans Ice Hockey team.
