Jim Thorpe Police report arrests

Jim Thorpe police released the following information on arrests made by officers.

• Jasmine M. Yaich, 33, of Jim Thorpe, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession or delivery of a small amount of marijuana. Police said on March 13 at 3:50 p.m. they were dispatched to assist Carbon County Adult Probation office personnel with a female possessing illegal narcotics. Upon arrival probation officers identified Yaich as the person involved. Charges were filed.

• Justin Matthew Schuch, 23, of Lehighton, has been charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, persistent disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. On Feb. 23, at 1:45 a.m. police were dispatched to the Union Publick House, 212 Center St., for a person who had been cut off from drinking and was fighting inside the bar. Upon arrival officers were told Schuch had attacked a bar employee several times outside the bar and caused moderate damage to the employee’s vehicle. Schuch was taken into custody. He was charged April 26.

• Matthew Christopher Dale, 27, of Lansford, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness and harassment. On May 1 at 7:42 p.m. police were dispatched to the 200 block of School Street for a report of a man and woman arguing. Police saw both individuals arguing. The man, Dale, was taken into custody and searched. He had alprazolam pills without a prescription and was under the influence of alcohol.

• Timothy B. Tappan, 60, of Jim Thorpe, has been charged with purchase of a controlled substance (fentanyl/heroin), possession of those drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Through an ongoing investigation Tappan was arrested in January. Then on April 11 at 9:47 a.m. he was arrested again after being stopped for vehicle code violations. In that incident he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two motor vehicle code violations.

• Jennifer Schaeffer, 35, of Lehighton, has been charged with theft by deception and bad check. On March 7 Schaeffer wrote a check to the Carbon County Prothonotary’s office for $23.60. The check was returned by the bank, which indicated the account has been closed. A letter was sent to Schaeffer, but she failed to respond and charges were filed April 26.

• Mahasin A. Pegeise, 39, of Albrightsville, has been charged with bad checks. Pegeise wrote a check for $419.12 to the office of District Judge Eric Schrantz on Feb. 22, but it was returned for insufficient funds. Pegeise was sent a letter but failed to respond. Charged were filed April 12.
