Laura Ann Kelshaw and Derek Joseph Smarr

Church of St. Joseph in Jim Thorpe was the setting for the Aug. 8 wedding of Laura Ann Kelshaw, daughter of Gary and Mary Kelshaw of Jim Thorpe, and Derek Joseph Smarr, son of Joseph and Debora Smarr of Tamaqua. Officiating the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Francis J. Baransky. Michael Seroka was the organist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Kristen Vender of Old Forge as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Katina Schoellkopf of Blandon, and Kristina Kochie of Somerset, New Jersey.Best man honors were performed by Justin Motz of Macungie. Groomsmen were Dylan Smarr and Tyler Smarr, both of Tamaqua.The newlyweds received family and friends at the Whispering Pines Banquet Hall in Penn Forest Township before honeymooning in St. Lucia.The new Mrs. Smarr is a graduate of Misericordia University, where she earned a bachelor of science in elementary education. She is employed as a substitute teacher.Mr. Smarr attended Lincoln Tech where he earned a specialized associate degree. He is employed as a laboratory technician at Underwriters Laboratories.The couple live in Jim Thorpe.
