Carbon County is looking for volunteer tax preparers to help area senior citizens.Volunteer tax preparers are usually individuals who are retired and have a basic knowledge of preparing simple tax returns. Computer skills are also required.Volunteers would attend a three- to four-day training in January, conducted by a local AARP volunteer.The free service for seniors will then be available at various sites throughout the county in 2016.Carbon County, through its Area Agency on Aging department, has provided this service since the 1990s, but over the years, volunteers have dwindled, while the demand for the service has increased.Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer tax preparer should call Joe at AARP at 610-824-5165.
