A Tamaqua man was sent to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on Oct. 31 after threatening to kill two people.

Officers were dispatched to 121 Hunter St., at 6:09 a.m. for a disturbance. The caller indicated a male was in the home and was in possession of a gun. He was threatening to kill the residents of the home. When officers arrived at the home a man yelled from the doorway, then quickly ducked back inside. When officers entered they found Terrence Love, 51, of 27 Mauch Chunk St., sitting on a couch.Love began yelling at the officers and refused to show them his hands. He then jumped off the couch and approached the officers in a threatening manner. When he continued to refuse to stop, an officer deployed his Taser gun. Love fell to the floor but continued to be uncooperative, refusing to put his hands behind his back. After a short struggle he was handcuffed, then evaluated for possible injuries by Tamaqua Ambulance personnel.Love had reportedly taken two different prescription drugs, trazodone and oxycodone. After gaining entry to the home he took two rifles from a gun cabinet in the living room, a .30 caliber Swiss Mauser and a 8 mm German Mauser. Officers found one of the rifles in the dining room. The other rifle was within Love's reach when he was sitting on the couch. He was arraigned before on-call District Magistrate Christine Hale, of Frackville, on charges of making terroristic threats and simple assault. Unable to post the $25,000 straight cash bail, he was sent to the county prison.
