Theft and forgery

A Schuylkill County man has been accused of stealing over $400,000 from his employer over an eight-year period.

State police at Frackville have charged Mark Kenneth Wolfe, 62, of Frackville, with felony counts of theft and forgery.Troopers initiated an investigation into a series of thefts from the Gilberton Coal Company, located in Mahanoy Township. These thefts represented a continuing course of conduct to steal funds from the coal firm.During the investigation, Wolfe was found to have taken in excess of $400,000 from the coal company by various methods, including check fraud and forgery.Wolfe was arraigned on the charges on Tuesday before District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 25 before Kilker.
