Marian students compete

The Marian Catholic chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America was represented at the 2015 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference by 11 members and the chapter adviser, Patricia Patton. The conference was held in April at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey.

During the conference, students competed with their peers from throughout the state for top honors in individual and team events. Marian students and their events included: Nicholas Kubishin in Business Calculations; Tyler Wackley in Business Law; Kaitlin Kowker in Health Care Administration; Aaron Srinivasan in Intro to Business Communications; the team of Taylor Horvat, Kayla Rodick, Rachel Meier and Olivia Schugardt in Parliamentary Procedure; Megan Ferrello in Public Speaking I; Faith Befano in Public Speaking II; and Nichole Baba in Job Interview.In addition to the competitive events, participants elected new state officers, attended workshops, gave recognition to students' community service efforts and made a donation to the Twilight Wish Foundation.Overall, eight out of the Marian students placed in the top 10 of their events. The chapter received sixth place in the Local Market Share Award with a 22.59 percent membership ratio of total student enrollment.The Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
