Carbon approves summer hires

Carbon County's summer programs are getting ready to begin.

On Thursday, the commissioners approved a number of hires associated with the Liquid Fuels Summer Program and Mauch Chunk Lake Park.Both programs hire students for the summer to do a variety of tasks throughout the county.Summer laborers for the liquid fuels program:• Dylan J. Flexer and Thomas A. Youngkin, both of Lehighton; Cody L. Mann of Jim Thorpe; Zachary J. Stromelo of Nesquehoning; and Leonard J. Ogozalek and Jordan D. Weber, both of Summit Hill, effective May 26.• Christopher J. Weber of Summit HIll, effective June. 1• Jordan A. Price of Jim Thorpe, effective June 5.• Jesse J. Breiner and Cory A. Young, both of Lehighton; Brenden P. Horos of Jim Thorpe; and Tyler J. Leslie of Nesquehoning, effective June 8.• Patrick E. Crowley of Jim Thorpe, effective June 11.• Brian A. Fisher, John P. McCole and Christopher A. Santore Jr., all of Nesquehoning, effective June 15.• Anthony J. Micholik of Lansford, effective June 22.• Summer supervisors Clair C. Breiner of Lehighton, and Bernard J. Newhard of Jim Thorpe, effective May 22. Both Breiner and Newhard are also temporary parking attendants as well.• Summer law clerk, court administration: Kara M. Beck of Lehighton, effective May 18.Related to the Liquid Fuels program, the board voted to accept a proposal from Jim Thorpe Auto Rentals for the lease of two 15-passenger vans for transporting employees during the summer pProgram. The lease is effective May 26 through Aug. 14 and will cost $6,100.In addition, the commissioners approved a number of other personnel moves, including:• Resignation of Christopher M. Buchman of Nuremberg, part-time corrections officer, effective April 20.• Resignation of Ronald C. Kusse of Lehighton, corrections officer, effective April 30.• Resignation of Rachael Betz of Slatington, corrections officer, effective May 8.• Hiring of Nathaniel M. Hrebik of Palmerton, seasonal park ranger II, Parks, effective May 22.• Sheriff appointment of Sean T. Dowd of Effort as special deputy, effective May 26.• Change of status of Shelby A. Herstine of Danielsville, from part-time corrections officer to full-time corrections officer, effective May 25.• Change of statuses of Anthony S. Babb of Palmerton and Kevin M. Smith of Lehighton, from part-time corrections officers to full-time corrections officers, effective June 1.• Change of status of Jamie L. Graver of Lehighton, from district justice secretary I, District Justices office; to clerk, Tax Claim Bureau, effective June 1.• Leave of absence of Sandra L. Schnell of Lehighton, part-time fiscal assistant, Treasurer's office, from April 24 to July 23.• Leave of absence of Chad S.
