The Lansford Alive Events Committee and the American Legion Post 123 of Lansford hosted an event honoring veterans from Lansford who served our country.

More than 50 guests attended the free dinner on Saturday.After dinner, 34 veterans received commendation certificates from the Carbon County Board of Commissioners, The Pennsylvania House of Representatives via Rep. Doyle Heffley, and the Pennsylvania Senate via Sen. John Yudichak.On behalf of Gov. Tom Wolf, Lt. Col. Timothy Brooks of the 728th Combat Sustain Support Battalion and 213th Area Support Group of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard was the keynote speaker. Brooks was "honored to attend in order to show praise and remember the many men and woman that served this country without hesitation."Heffley said, "This is a well-fitted honor for veterans in our area.""Every generation has given something to their country," Heffley said.Carbon County Commissioners Wayne Nothstein, Thomas Gerhard and William O'Gurek were all also in attendance. Chairman Nothstein provided a few remarks on behalf of the commissioners."Today is a really great day for Lansford, a day to be proud of the sacrifices you have made to our country," Nothstein said.
