St. Luke's-Miners offers support groups

St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale is offering support groups for local residents dealing with diabetes or neurological issues.

The diabetes support group meets quarterly, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the hospital's community room.Each meeting, a different diabetes topic is explored.Topics are based on ways to improve blood sugar control and quality of life. Meetings include a question-and-answer period.The next meeting will be on June 2. Reservations are not required and there are no fees. For more information, call 570-645-8107.The neurological support group meets the third Friday of each month, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the hospital's community room.The group offers support to survivors, families and friends of those who suffer from neurologic diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and strokes. In addition to the opportunity to socialize with people facing the same difficulties, the support group will offer ways to deal with problems related to such diseases and disorders.The next meeting is Friday.For more information, call 570-645-8197.
