Follweiler named MAC Academic All-American

Senior Alexia Follweiler has repeated on the Women's Swimming Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference team.

A Panther Valley graduate, Follweiler has had a decorated career in and out of the pool.In the classroom, the biology major has earned three MAC Academic Honor Roll selections and she has earned Dean's List mention five times at the college.In the pool, she enjoyed a breakthrough year as a junior, when she also served as a team captain, as she set the school-record in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:13.02 to finish second at the MAC Championships. She also earned Second Team All-MAC honors in the 200-yard individual medley and was a second-team all-conference relay team member in three events. As a senior, she finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley to earn Second Team All-MAC honors.During her four years in the program, Follweiler earned 12 Second Team All-MAC honors as a relay team member and she also was a two-time Second Team All-MAC selection in the 200-yard individual medley.The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. The award is voted on by the conference's 18 sports information departments.
