Jim Thorpe man gets jail term

A Jim Thorpe man was sentenced to a county prison term Monday on a drug dealing charge.

Justin Guth, 30, was sentenced to serve six to one day less 24 months by Judge Steven R. Serfass. The jail term will be followed by one year of probation.He previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested on Dec. 20, 2013, in the area of 12 W. 11th St. in Jim Thorpe by agents of the state attorney general's office.Guth said he spent time in two in patient rehabilitation programs since his arrest for a total of 45 days.He said since his arrest he has learned a trade and is employed full time. He also continues counseling.Serfass told Guth, "It's clear to the court that you made good progress in battling your addiction."In addition to the jail term, Serfass ordered Guth to supply a DNA sample, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and probation, and render a total of 150 hours of community service after he is paroled.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. Sunday. He was granted immediate work release privileges.
