Homicide trial: Investigators thought Steigerwalt's body was Holly Grimm's

Several witnesses took the stand this afternoon for the trial for the man who admitted killing a Tamaqua woman.

Police say Anthony Darrell Heath, 26, strangled Angela Steigerwalt and dumped her body on Flagstaff Road.

Forensic odontologist Richard Scanlon testified that state police initially thought the charred remains found off Flagstaff Road in Jim Thorpe on Feb. 1, 2014, were those of Holly Grimm, a Lehigh County woman who vanished in 2013.

But when Scaon compared radiographs of the jaw bones and teeth of the remains to Grimm's dental records, there was no match.

But then police obtained Angela Steigerwalt's records. Scanlon found that fillings, restorations, roots, and an unusual impacted canine tooth matched the remains with Steigerwalt.

The jury also heard from forensic pathologist Michael Johnson, who testified that Steigerwalt died of ligature strangulation, and was dead when her body was set on fire.
