Martin Truex Jr. wins Pocono race

pmatsinko@tnonline.comLONG POND - For the first time since June of 2013, Martin Truex Jr. pulled into victory lane in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.Truex broke a 69-race winless streak Sunday, dominating the Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400 at Pocono Raceway."I feel like I'm on cloud nine right now," Truex said afterwards.The New Jersey native led a race high 97 laps in holding off second place driver Kevin Harvick, who paced the field for 39 circuits.Behind Harvick was Jimmie Johnson, who battled back from a cut tire and contact with the wall to take third. Joey Logano took fourth, while pole sitter Kurt Busch came home fifth.The victory by Truex also snapped a five-race winning streak by Hendrick Motorsports at Pocono. The last non-Hendrick driver to win at "The Tricky Triangle" was Logano, who was driving for Joe Gibbs Racing when he took the checkered flag in June of 2012.Check out Monday's edition of the Times News for more coverage of today's race.
