Schuylkill County Fair continues through the week

The Schuylkill County Fair continues tonight, with gates opening at 4 p.m.

The fair runs through Saturday, with the gates opening at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and at 11 a.m. Thursday and Saturday. General admission is $5, with children 10 and younger admitted free.

Events include tractor pulls, truck pulls, a horse show, and competitions in hay bale tossing, milk chugging and ethnic cooking. Events culminate Saturday with Family Fun Day, which features an antique tractor pull, livestock judging, the 4-H/Future Farmers of America Master Showman contest, a princess parade and baby parade.

Tonight at the fair:

• 5 p.m. Rhythm and Brews on M&T Bank Stage.

• 5 p.m. Adult Milk Chugging/Pie Eating Contest at the Kids’ Area

• 6 p.m. Ethnic Cooking Contest

• 6 p.m. Open Horse Show, Pioneer Pole Building Equine Complex

• 6:30 p.m. Celebrity Tractor Pull at track

• 7 and 9 p.m. Ridgeline on M&T Bank Stage

• 7:30 p.m. Boilo Competition (PA Preferred)

• 8 p.m. Farm Stock Pulls at the track

On Thursday, events include: The Rehrig Brothers at 1 and 3 p.m.; Dennis Tempest, with shows at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.; Larry Moyer “Form Follows Function,” at 6:30 p.m. and a tractor parade at 4:30 p.m.

The fair is located just east of the intersection of Routes 183 and 895 in Summit Station.
