At today's commissioners meeting, the board talked revision of assessments. For many years, assessments in Carbon County have been and are still on a very unfair basis.

While assessments are legally based on their market value, they are variously based in this county. In Mauch Chunk, they are assessed at 70 percent of their market value. In other sections of the county, they vary from 20 to 40 percent.It is proposed to put them all on a 50 percent basis and assessors will be instructed accordingly.
