Police investigate crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two crashes on Friday, one involving three vehicles.

The three-vehicle crash occurred about 6:58 p.m. at the intersection of Route 115 and Rocky Mountain Drive South, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Thomas D. Masten, 22, of Stroudsburg, driving a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado truck, and Jeffery Rixford, 37, of Scranton, driving a 2016 Freightliner tractor with trailer, were northbound on 115 while Doren A. Palmer, 57, of Effort, driving a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz was southbound.Troopers said Palmer crossed over the double yellow line and struck the Silverado, then struck the rear driver's side of the trailer portion of the Freightliner, causing it to overturn into the northbound lane.Palmer and her passenger, Elaine A. Mattis, 66, of Effort, Masten and Rixford and his passenger Christopher L. Angerson, 20, of Spring Bank Township, all sustained minor injuries but did not require immediate medical attention.The Silverado, Veracruz, and the trailer had to be towed from the scene. Traffic on 115 was shutdown for about five hours and re-routed onto Service Road.Palmer was cited for the crash.The second crash occurred about 3:35 p.m. along Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Andrea S. Sollitto, 46, of Girard, Ohio, was stopped attempting a left turn into a private driveway when her 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer was struck in the rear by a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Rebecca Harrison, 35, of East Stroudsburg, No one was injured and both vehicles were driven from the scene.Troopers said Harrison was cited for following too closely.
