Anthracite White beat Tamaqua in the South Division winners bracket final of the District 18 9-10 year-old Little League Tournament on Thursday.

White-TamaquaAnthracite White advanced to the South Division championship with a 5-1 victory over Tamaqua.The big blow for Anthracite came off the bat of the red-hot Stephen Hood, who belted a three-run homer in the first inning. It was his third homer run of the tournament. Michael Pascoe added a double for the winners while Brad Hood tossed a complete-game three-hitter.Brian Hinkle, Steven Hoffman and Blaise Gigli all had a hit for Tamaqua.Anthracite, which has won all three of its tournament games, will now await the outcome of Sunday's losers bracket final between Tamaqua and Tri-County. The winner of that game would have to beat Anthracite twice. The first meeting would be Tuesday with the "if necessary" game being played on Wednesday.The South Division champion will face the North Division champion in a best-of-three series for the District 18 title.
