Lawmaker proposes naming I-84 exit after slain Pa. trooper

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania state senator is proposing to name an exit on Interstate 84 in the Pocono Mountain region for a state trooper slain nearby while on duty.

Sen. Lisa Baker said Friday she has introduced a bill to name Exit 30 for Cpl. Bryon Dickson, who was shot to death in September at a state police barracks about a mile away.

Eric Frein is accused of killing Dickson and wounding Trooper Alex Douglass. He's pleaded not guilty and awaits trial in Pike County.

It took authorities 48 days to find Frein, who was arrested by U.S. marshals at an abandoned airfield in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Baker says the designation will remind passing motorists of Dickson's service to the public.
