Since late October, Tamaqua-area Scouts have been collecting used eyeglasses to donate to the Lions Club. During a ceremony Sunday, Lions President Brian Keich handed out participation certificates to the Scouts, who as a group collected 422 pairs.

"We take these glasses and recycle them, here and all over the world," Keich said. "We appreciate seeing you young people give back to the rest of the world."The Scout leaders are Nancy Paisley and Tara Goho; 34 scouts participated. It's the eighth year that Tamaqua Scouts have taken part in the program.
