Slatington council approves buying backup generator

The Slatington Borough Police Department will be getting some upgrades soon. The borough council unanimously voted to procure an emergency backup generator for the department. The generator, costing an estimated $18,850, will be large enough to service the borough offices as well.

One of the police cars will receive a replacement dash camera for a cost of $7400. The dash cam has been broken for a while and it is finally in the borough's budget to replace it.Additionally, the police department will receive Oracle database software, which has to do with background checks, as well as an updated remote database server. There will also be a retrofitting and upgrading lights and exit signs for the police department and borough building. These replacements will fix the now outdated lighting system for a total of $3,330. It is estimated that this will pay for itself within approximately six months of usage.
