Schuylkill Township Officials discuss website updates

Honest mistake? Or intentional needling?

Schuylkill Township supervisors held a special meeting Tuesday morning to set a policy for how its fledgling website, created and launched to better to provide information to the public, will be updated.Supervisor Christine Verdier said that information originally posted on the website had indicated she was appointed to her position, not elected."Some of the info that was put up on the website was not accurate," Verdier said."It was an attempt to discredit me."Verdier was appointed in 2010 to fill the term of Maureen Vanek, who had passed away. She was elected in the 2011 general election to serve four years, which would finish Vanek's six-year term.Supervisor Chuck Fayash had accepted the task of developing the website, and the township hired Snyder Web Designs, with Kirsten Snyder as webmaster.During the Tuesday meeting, Verdier, Fayash and Chairman Charles Hosler voted unanimously to adopt a policy regarding how the website is updated. The township secretary will email information to the website, but only after that information has been approved by two of the supervisors. After the meeting, Verdier said that Snyder had sent her an email stating that she felt she "was in the middle" because Fayash was sending her information for the website, while Snyder wanted to make sure all three supervisors had reviewed it and were in agreement on it.Seven residents attended the meeting. John Bubon objected to some of the wording of the resolution, which states "Schuylkill Township launched a website to disseminate information to residents."Bubon said he felt that it was not the township which launched the website, it was Fayash. Both Hosler and Verdier responded that the decision to develop a website,

www.schuylkilltownship.com, was approved by all three supervisors. Before the meeting adjourned, Fayash said he had some other things to discuss, but Verdier told him the special meeting was advertised to discuss the website. The meeting was adjourned.
