All lives matter

I feel compelled to write about the current issues that have been playing out in the media. Black lives matter (of course they do). All lives matter (no matter what you look like!).I am a white person, could not help that! It is the color that I popped out of my mother’s womb. Now I am the furthest thing from a racist, ask anybody who knows me! When I had my business, I had 700 customers in my database and over 200 of my customers were of black descent. I treated everyone the same, no matter who they were; ask anyone I know!Now I have seen the videos, all the protest and all the data leading up to the deaths of these young men. You know if these young men had not put themselves into the situations that led to their deaths, they would all be alive today. What is missing from all this is total disrespect for the law.OK, some of these trigger-happy police need to be weeded out, but the majority of these protectors of the law are just trying to get through their shifts and see their loved ones again. Just remember, all of these incidents that occurred involved the police being drawn into something illegal, no matter how small the offense.Stop pointing fingers and blaming everybody else because the youths of today lack total respect of the law. The parents need to get more involved with their children and give them a reason to live, no matter what race you are!You know there are many different paths I could have taken growing up on the streets of Philadelphia. I could have been a junkie, or a thief, or a drug dealer, I could have chose any of those paths, but I feel that my parents’ direction and respect for the law put me on the path I have chosen.Thank you very much for your time!William L.
