Two teens were killed, and several other people were injured in a violent two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday evening along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

The crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. during a downpour on rain-slicked roads.

Carbon County coroner Bruce A. Nalesnik identified the victims as Taylor Shepherdson and Jasmine Fonseca, both 16, and both of the Towamensing Trails development in Albrightsville.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were passengers in one of the vehicles.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the crash along with a state police reconstruction team.

Police have not released a report on the crash at this time.

The road was closed for about four hours while the investigation was conducted.

The number of injured was not immediately available, but scanner reports indicated three were ejected from vehicles. Patients were taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Lehigh-Valley Cedar Crest and Pocono Medical Center.
