Turnpike restriction today

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling northbound on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between Lehigh Valley (Exit #56) and Mahoning Valley (Exit #74) to be prepared for mobile operations along the shoulder through 2 p.m. today.

At 6 a.m. construction crews will begin a moving operation along the shoulder at various locations northbound between milepost A63.5 - A70.2 to install mile marker signs until the pattern is lifted by 2 p.m.

Motorists traveling in both directions on I-476 should stay alert for daytime or nighttime mobile operations at various locations between Mid-County (Exit #20) and Clarks Summit (Exit #131). The work is associated with a Turnpike contract to erect the signs the entire length of the Northeastern Extension through November.

Motorists should stay alert for slow moving or stopped traffic and obey the posted 55 mph speed limit through the work area. The work is weather dependent and could be delayed or cancelled.
