Coaldale police on Friday charged a borough council member with public drunkenness, obstructing emergency services and disorderly conduct after she entered an ambulance and yelled profanities at an emergency medical technician, according to a criminal complaint.

Patrolman Joseph A. David filed the charges Friday against Brenda L. Hosler, 49.Efforts to reach Hosler, whose phone number is unlisted, were unsuccessful Friday.According to the complaint, filed with District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua, here's what happened:At 1:23 a.m. July 19, David was dispatched to the VFW club on Ridge Street to help a fall victim. He arrived with Tamaqua emergency medical services. Before David got out of his cruiser, he saw Hosler approach the ambulance and open its passenger door.He went to the ambulance to help EMTs Barbara Houser and Jenna Henry. Houser tended to the patient on the front steps of the VFW, a woman who had fallen as she left the club and injured her leg.Henry and David remained by the stretcher at the bottom of the steps until Henry went back to the ambulance to retrieve medical equipment.Henry did not speak with Hosler outside the ambulance. When Henry entered the rear of the ambulance, David noticed Hosler walk over to the side door of the ambulance and step inside.Henry told him that Hosler said to her "Can we please do this without a (expletive) attitude? You're acting like a (expletive) (expletive)." and "You don't have to be a (expletive) (expletive)."David told Hosler on the sidewalk in front of the VFW that she would be arrested and that she should not be entering the ambulance. He also told her she should not be yelling profanities at the emergency medical technicians."Hosler became irate and approached myself in an aggressive manner, getting within inches of myself and officer (Joseph) Krebs of the Tamaqua police department," David wrote in the complaint."You could have (expletive) told us you were citing Jake," she said to David, according to the complaint."She also stated 'after all I've done for you (expletive) guys,'" David wrote."Hosler then stated 'Just cuz Hutta was getting a (expletive) (expletive) in the car,'" he wrote."Hosler then told me 'You didn't even get his (expletive) side of the story'," David wrote.David wrote that Hosler's boyfriend, Jacob Adamitis, had to pull her away from them after they told her several times to leave the area. Adamitis also told Hosler to stop before she was arrested, he wrote.Upon speaking with Hosler, David noticed she had an odor of alcoholic beverages on her breath, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and she had a very unsteady gait. She also began crying while speaking, and then stopped, he wrote.
