Monroe driver facing multiple charges

A Monroe County driver is facing multiple charges following an incident that occurred on Oct. 3 at 1:50 a.m.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers observed a green minivan traveling north of Route 611 and turning onto Route 423 and almost striking another vehicle. Police attempted to stop the van, but the driver refused. Police pursued the van until the driver finally stopped in the area of Tobyhanna State Park.The driver was identified as Debra Vangeldren, 34, of 8434 Bear Trail, Tobyhanna. She showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. A records check revealed Vangeldren did not have a valid license and it was also under suspension-DUI related. She was then transported to the county DUI center.Police said she has been charged with driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under suspension-DUI related, drivers required to be licensed, stop signs and yield signs and driving on roadways laned for traffic.
