The 108th Great Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade planning ball continues to roll.

Seventeen volunteers under the direction of newly formed NL Events Committee Chairman Russell Howard, were on hand to stuff envelopes and organize fundraising events Thursday night in the Vigiliant Fire Departmen basement.The committee has put together "A Day In the Park" event to take place in Slatington's Victory Park on Aug. 15. The event will be BYOB with entertainment from five bands, ending with headliner The Groove. Witmans and Brogans BBQ and Jackies Fries will feed the crowd, ending with a 50/50 raffle to round out the night."Its going to be a nice easy day in the park for people to bring their chairs and relax," organizer Lisa Fisher said.On Aug. 22 a coin toss will be held starting at 8 a.m., located at the D&L Trail Head in Slatington.The committee is also working on a basket raffle for Sept. 27. Baskets are still needed for this event. Any business wishing to donate a basket or gift card should contact Karen Kistler at 610-462-7314.
