The Lehighton Shade Tree Commission has several activities scheduled.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, members will join forces with the Scout Troop hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets in Lehighton, to bag seedlings at the church. The seedlings will be distributed to school students on Friday.On Friday, the commission will visit Lehighton Middle School on Beaver Run Road from 8 a.m. to noon.Activities will include:• A presentation to the Commission recognizing Lehighton as a Tree City USA.• Arbor Day proclamation presented by Lehighton Mayor Thomas Mase.• Planting trees, donated by PPL, at the school.• Display posters created by students.• Distribution of seedlings.On Saturday, commission members will partner with local Scout troops and Pool Pals to spruce up the lower park in Lehighton, and to plant several trees along the streets of Lehighton.Activities will begin at the lower park of Lehighton Borough, across from the Municipal Building, at 9 a.m.For more information, contact Mark Hoffman, chairman of the Lehighton Shade Tree Commission, at 610-377-5275.
