Shawnee Playhouse presents 'Sex Please, We're Sixty!'

Shawnee Playhouse will perform Saturday Night Suds, beginning with the opening of "Sex Please, We're Sixty!"

On stage April 17 through May 10 is the saucy senior scandal, "Sex Please, We're Sixty!" by Michael Parker and Susan Parker, writers of "Sin, Sex and the

C.I.A." and "Whose Wives Are They Anyway?" This show is recommended for mature audiences. Performances will take place at 2 p.m. April 17, 19, 24, 26 and May 1, 3, 8, 10; and at 8 p.m. April 18 and 25 and May 2 and 9.The play is set at Mrs. Stancliffe's Rose Cottage B&B, which is frequented year after year by a number of women guests.Neighbor "Bud the Stud" thinks the women come to enjoy his romantic overtures. Her other neighbor and would-be suitor Henry is a retired chemist who has developed a blue pill called "Venusia," after Venus the goddess of love, to increase the libido of menopausal women.When the women mix up Bud's Viagra pills with the Venusia, we soon discover that it has a strange effect on men: it gives them all the symptoms of menopausal women. When the mayhem settles down, all the women find their lives moving in new and surprising directions."Sex Please, We're Sixty!" is directed by Brandon Hamks. Cast members include Stephen Hellman as Bud, Louanne Bright as Mrs. Stancliffe, Michael Gilbert as Henry, Amy Rau as Victoria, Pat Van Varick as Hillary and Sarah McCarroll as Charmaine. Stage Managers are Emmy Usera and Sarah Landstrom.Saturday Night Suds will continue through Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park," running May 15 through 31.
