Jim Thorpe Area School District officials broke ground for an $800,000 addition to the L.B. Morris Elementary School, Jim Thorpe.

The two-story annex will provide for a new administrative suite on the first floor and four additional classrooms on the second floor.The addition will be located to the right of the elementary school named in memory of Lawrence B. Morris, a former teacher and supervising principal at the East Mauch Chunk School District before it joined with the Mauch Chunk District under the name of the world's greatest athlete.
