EPC lists division names

The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference officially approved division names for sports throughout the conference last week.

Paying homage to the Lehigh Valley and District 11 landscapes and history, the three division names are prevalent throughout the entire conference, but apply in different terms for sports that have all 18 schools competing and those sports that only have a limited amount of participating sports. For example, in baseball, basketball, field hockey, soccer, softball and girls volleyball, 18 teams will comprise three six-team divisions of the Mountain, Steel and Skyline. The divisions break down in this manner for these respective sports: Mountain (Eburg North, Eburg South, Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mtn East, Pocono Mtn West, Stroudsburg; Steel (Allen, Becahi, Dieruff, Easton, Freedom, Liberty); Skyline (CCHS, Emmaus, Nazareth, Northampton, Parkland, Whitehall). In boys lacrosse, the setup is: Mountain (Easton, Nazareth, Northampton); Steel (Becahi, Freedom, Liberty); Skyline (CCHS, Emmaus, Parkland).Boys' volleyball features all former Lehigh Valley Conference schools: Mountain (Nazareth, Northampton, Parkland, Whitehall); Steel (Becahi, Easton, Freedom, Liberty); Skyline (Allen, Dieruff, Emmaus).Football has a two division alignment featuring the monikers of the North and South: North ( Allen, Becahi, Dieruff, Eburg North, Eburg South, Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mtn East, Pocono Mtn West, Stroudsburg) and South (CCHS, Easton, Emmaus, Freedom, Liberty, Nazareth, Northampton, Parkland, Whitehall).Girls lacrosse also has two divisions: North (Easton, Freedom, Liberty, Nazareth) and South (CCHS, Emmaus, Northampton, Parkland).Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Wrestling do not have divisions.
