Pleasant Valley hirings approved

The Pleasant Valley School Board on Thursday voted on hirings and contracts.

Board hiresThe board voted, 8-0:• To approve hiring Lydia Buck, substitute secretary/bookkeeper; Eric Samson, security officer-casual; Mary Ann Kelliher, substitute teacher, English 7-12/substitute paraprofessional associate/secretary.• A sabbatical leave of absence to Joseph Agolino, PVI teacher, effective Sept. 5 through the end of the 2014-2015 school year.• Granting tenure to Kevin Horvath, Loretta Snyder and Matthew Gould.• Accept the resignation of Barbara Bard, PVHS monitor, effective Aug. 26, but remain on the monitor substitute list; Tina Martin, substitute teacher, effective Sept. 3; Pamela Joseph, PVHS paraprofessional associate, part-time, effective Aug. 12; Christina Lenway, PVE paraprofessional associate part-time, effective Sept. 8, but wished to remain on the substitute list for teacher and paraprofessional associate.• A furlough assignment change for Adrianne Keefer, long-term substitute teacher, from PVE to long-term substitute teacher at PVI, effective Sept. 15 through the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year.• Affiliation agreement between the University of Scranton and the district for three years from the effective date of Sept. 5, (clinical experience for students in the field of education).• 2014-2015 adviser positions: George Boudman, Animation Club; Stefanie Santiago (co-adviser) PVMS Diversity Club; Robert Young, Garden Club; Barbara Arroyo, Graphic Novel Society; James DeVivo, Music Honor Society; Shannon Mackes and Patrick Murphy (co-advisers) PVHS Science Club; Lois Mann, Show Choir Director.Business contractsThe board approved the following business contracts, 8-0:• Independent Educational Evaluators of America LLC for professional service fees accrued in connection with completion of an Independent Educational Evaluation not to exceed $3,000.• Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, Special Education for the 2014-2015 school year for costs for special education services estimated to be $1,862,027, with final reconciliation of the charges to be made by August 2015.• IDEA-Part B Use of Funds Agreement between the district and Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 for the 2014-2015 school year.
