Two face charges after vehicle stop

Two people face charges following a traffic stop in Tamaqua on Sunday.

A blue Dodge Neon was stopped at 6:28 p.m. after an officer on patrol noticed the inspection sticker was expired. After a records check, the officer learned the registration was also expired. The driver, Gerald C. Miller, 41, of 426 E. Arlington St., Shenandoah, admitted the plate was expired, as was the insurance, and that he does not have a valid driver's license. What he did have was an outstanding warrant for his arrest, issued by Northumberland County authorities.Miller also had several signs of possible inebriation and was given, and failed, field sobriety tests. He was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville for blood tests and then jailed in the county prison due to the warrant.Charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle are pending results of the blood test.A passenger in the Neon, Roxann Marie Mooney, 35, same Shenandoah address, was found to have a clear container in her purse containing a roll of cash ($820), three glass tubular pipes with burnt residue, seven white pills (suspected Oxycodone) and a white powdery substance. The items were all sent to the state police lab for processing. She faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
